Fluval 304 cannister filter leaking HELP!

I have a fluval 304 cannister thats leaking and I pin pointed the problem, it seems that the motor seal band isnt fitting too well and its leaking. Any suggestings on how I could fix this problem? Or do I have to put the lid down on a certain way? What are some suggestion?

If it's brand new I would return it. Otherwise, I would recommend that you replace it.
