Upgrading to a 150g tank ??
I am upgrading from my 75g to a 150g. here is what I was going to do... let me know if its fine.
1. I added new sand to my 150g and filled it with about 10g of water. Still have to make more water... 2. So I was going to now add all my new LR into it first and set that. 3. Then I was going to go to my 75g tank and start to remove all my fish and corals from there and put them into a container. 4. Then I was going to remove the LR from my 75 and add it into the 150. 5. Once the LR is all done, I was going to remove all the water from my 75g and add that into the 150. If more water is needed, I was going to make more and add it.. OR is it better to add the fish and corals at this point since they are used to this water and SLOWLY fill up the tank with new water??? 6. Then I was going to add the heater and PHs in the 150 and turn them on. 7. Once the water clears up somewhat, I was going to slowly add all my corals and fish into it... so please post your comments and write the corresponding number and I will know which question u are referrin to.. |

It sounds like the order is right, but consider doing it slowly.
When I did my upgrade I had both tanks setup for about 2 weeks as I transferred everything over. Start by changing out about 40 gallons from the 75 and move it into the 150. Then add the new water to the 75. Take about 1/2 of the LR in the 75 and move it into the 150. Wait a few days to settle. Keep checking the water regularly in the 150 as you will probably notice a small cycle due to the new LR and the substrate. you can use "Cycle" to speed up the process. Once the tank starts to stabilize you can start to move over the less expensive and hardy fish and maybe a few soft corals. also move over more of the LR. Once you start to empty the 75 you can lower the amount of LR in the tank. You may have to increase the amount of water changes you are doing on the 75 to keep up with the lack of LR. If you do this slowly over a 2 week period or so, you should be fine. I followed my process when I did the switch . you can see the updates on the website above. Click the house.
