Cutting Mushrooms
I was told if you take a razor blade and slice the mushroom 2-3 times it will drop spores and reproduce. Is this safe, any suggestions? How does this work?

Correct. Just take a razor blade and cut them like a pizza. There's a forum threads in the Coral Propagation and Aquaculture about fraging shrooms.

I'm not sure from your question so just so your clear, you cant just cut it and have it reproduce. You have to cut all the way thru it(atleast almost all the way) into 2-3 pieces.
Try to get a piece of the mouth on each part and it will usually heal alot quicker. It's safe and almost always work. Mushrooms are tough little biggers! |

It doesn't make it drop spores. What happens is each section you cut will (usually) develope into a new mushroom. It's a form of asexual reprodution.

Oh and if you decide to do this... put the loose cut pieces in a plastic cup/container with a piece of plastic screen over it in your tank. Make sure there is some small rubble in the bottom of the cup. The shroom pieces will attach to the rubble and begin to grow. You can then take em out and put them where ever and they will be anchored down by whatever they attached to.
