I have just the needle wheel (not the recirculating) one on my 55 and i figured it wouldnt be powerful enough for a 125. Is the recirculating that much better?

IMO it helps with the water making contact time with the bubbles thus takes out more organics but for your price range you don't have alot of options.
or try a ASM G3 http://www.reefgeek.com/filtration/P...tein_Skimmer_w!_Sedra_5000_Pump_by_ASM i use a G2 on my 75 gal. also there are a few mods that can be done to them to make them work alot better. and fairly cheap |

The MR1 is rated for 175 gallons and is $275. MRC makes great skimmers. I highly recommend them.

yeah but those don't come with a pump and the pump will cost another 100.00 which is why i didn't suggest that one but they are good skimmers
