Unhappy Fire Shrimp Dead

This morning when I went to go and feed my fish, I noticed my fire shrimp under a rock. He wasn't moving, so I pulled him out, he had died. He had about 3 large fire worms on him. Although my tank is fairly new, my parameters have been stable.

There was one thing that was abnormal...my pH dropped from 8.2 to 7.8??? The only thing I had done was add some DI water from the grocery store yesterday. But I literally only added about 2-3 tablespoons...just to top it off.

What could have cause this...he regularly ate food I dropped in for him, along with eating all the stuff he would pick from the live rock and sand.

Parameters:

Temp: 81
pH: 7
Am: 0
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate:
Specific Gravity: 1.024

Any help please...

Was it the actual FS or was it just a shell? It could have molted, and you just found the old skeleton. This happened to me with my cleaner shrimp a couple of times, and it would always come crawling back out of the rock, ready to clean some fish!

same thing happend to me last week. my tank is fairly new, and randomly my pH droped from 8.2 to 7.8. first my emerald crab died, but that was ok because he nocked down all of my corals so i was happy. but then my $40 fire shrimp passed away, maybe they just can't handle low pH.

im positivie that it was the actual fire shrimp...wish i was wrong...but i'm 100% sure....I agree they probably can't handle the change in pH, but what would have caused it to drop...and what should I use in my BC14 to get it back up to 8.2??

How long were the lights on for when you tested the PH?
