LED's for Refugium?

Has anyone here set up a refugium using LED's to light it?

If so, can you please tell me about your setup? Size of fuge, bulb color, total wattage, and anything else that you think might be significant?

I'm considering this because of 1) heat issues and 2) lack of space.

I'd also be interested in hearing why it might be a bad idea as well.

Thanks!

This question has been asked a lot. You may want to look up the thread. I'm not sure if your going to get a reply.
The newest LED light in the market is the SOLARIS but it is VERY expensive.

What you want to know is if there will be any growth of macro algae in your refugium from led lights, Right? It is a good question I think it would be possible but I will wait for an answer.

And its less efficient than PC lights.

Actually, the Aquaillumination is the newest one on the market. The solaris is probably the oldest (aquarium) LED light on the market.

Yep, that's pretty much it - how much minimum it would take to keep the chaeto simmering.

I'm talking about a very small space with my potential fuge setup, maybe not even 2 or 3 gallons' worth.

I think I do have a small PC bulb (screw-in) floating around here somewhere, and if that will provide adequate light, take up minimal space, and not contribute too much to the heat already present from 2 Mag drive pumps and a 250W MH, then I'll use what I've got.

But if there's something better, I'm listening.

My apologies to the moderators; I got impatient and posted the same thread in the Lighting forum.
