feather dusters

hello I have a couple questions my tank has been set up for about 4 days with 35 pounds of uncured Fiji Marshall and kaelini rock so far I have found 4 feather dusters in my rock two are exposed you can see tubes attached to rock and two are inside rock and just pop out this is my question if I have buried a fan worm under a rock or between rock and sand will they die? or do they move at all and are they tough will they live thru cycle? thank for the help

I had plenty on my lr when i bought it, don't seem to matter if a few get buried, you will eventually have a load on your rocks, interesting creatures.

The small feather dusters may make it. The very large ones usually do not. They are also very easily predated upon by shrimp, crabs, and some fish.

IME, the one in between the sand and rock will burrow out with a newly secreted tube so they'll be fine.
