two critters that eat cyano...
...and I have seen them do it, preferentially and constantly.
1. a fighting conch...can't do anything except sand, but pretty efficient. 1-2 per 50g, depending on severity of problem. 2. rainford gobies...unfortunately they come very small, under an inch long, but they tend to camp by their own patch and go after it all day long. They grow 2 or so inches long, and by that time may actually be formidable allies against the stuff, if they will continue the same appetite.

Thanks Sk8r. I bookmarked this but hope I never need to use the information.

Mostly don't let sunlight hit your tank and watch your params. I have a room with big windows, so I am bound to have a little, this early in my tank's revamped history [3-4 months] but these little guys are doing a good job.

That's the first time I've heard of rainford gobies eating cyano. Kinda interesting.

I have 2 of them, and they just camp beside a bit and chow down all day long. They sift a little sand, but they rip off bits of the cyano and it disappears thread by thread into their busy little mouths. Like I said, tiny, but capable of growing. Mine also show interest in cyclopeeze, so they may have the ability to eat other than rock-film, but the habit surprised me too.bbbbb
