Permeate Pump for RODI systems, worth it??
Hey all,
My RO system is not efficent at all. In my research looking for a no-waste RODI system I stumbled across this website: Permeate Pump This pump claims to use water flow and resistance to increase your water usage by 80% while maintaining longevity of your filter life. Anyone have any experience with this, or words of wisdom that can help? Thanks in advance

I know a few people bought them in the last AWI group buy the club did. I haven't heard anyone say anything about their experience with them yet though.

Turns your VERY wasteful RO into a Less wasteful RO. Still some waste, obviously (or where would all the bad stuff go?!).
He says that it will improve your system 80% so if you initially had a 90% waste rate then you'd be down to roughly 20% waste. You can buy one from AWI during our group buy for 47.20. http://www.njreefers.org/joomla/inde...d=73&Itemid=43

AWI offers that pump at $30 less than the site I found it on....so even though I missed my chance with the group buy, it'll still be a better deal for me!

I posted this in the lighting, filtration, and equipment forum in efforts to get a broader range of feedback if anyone's interested

Just in case you didn't realize this, I think you need to be using a storage tank on your system in order for a permeate pump to work. If, like I do, you pump your permeate into an open tank (like a big barrel with a lid or a pitcher), this pump will not help. At least, that is my understanding, I could be wrong. Have a look at the AWI FAQ.
I recently moved, and I don't like the fact that I am now paying a water bill (I rented before, now I own) that is inflated due to the waste water on my RO/DI. Second problem for me is the very low water pressure at my new house. I am going to have to purchase a booster pump to make my system work correctly! Tina |
