Cloudy Water
I did a routine water change on Saturday and everything looked and tested normal. About 18 hours later, on Sunday, my water started to become cloudy. I tested the water and only found my nitrite to be slightly high (~0.2ppm). Now visibility is down to about one foot. My fish are all feeding and acting like nothing is wrong. What could be the problem and how might I fix it?

A bacteria bloom perhaps... Did you mess with the substrate at all to cause a sandstorm? Have you checked your alk and ca to make sure it didn't precipitate in the process?

My calcium and alkalinity have been tested and are fine. I didn't vacuum the substrate or really mess with it at all, although I know it can get stirred up some during a water change. The cloudiness seems to be clearing some - I would say visibility is at 4 feet now.
BTW, what is a bacteria bloom?
