AquaC Remora skimmer
Anyone that has had experience with this thing please shoot out a response... i was just wonderng how quiet this thing actually got after the 1-2 week break in period that the booklet says it needs. The noise actually seems to be a bit better today after only a day of use (and the beginnings of some foam and water collection since i got home from work) just wondering if it gets silent or does it still retain some of that spraying hissing sound?

Hey Rick, I have had mine for almost 2 years. Mine was making noise as well, but after 3 weeks it went silent. Do not get discouraged with it . It will take time before it really starts to work. Lite colored tea for a long time and then 1 day it just kicked in. Dark green skimmate all the time now. Good luck and be patient, Mike.

thanks for the info, im not at all discouraged... sorry if thats the impression i gave. Was merely wondering how queit it actually got after that 1-2 weeks.... have a small amount of tea colored water in the collection cup right now and the spraying noise cuts in and out every few seconds so that is a good sign already
was hoping it would get completely silent as you said yours has, that was the response i was hoping to read thank you

I have run one for a few years and it always hisses.
You can put filter floss etc or even a paper towel under the cup and on top of the injector to reduce noise, but only put it on the injector side.

I have an AC Urchin (sump version of a Remora) This works just fine & no problems with the foam so far.
Hope you can use it http://reefcentral.com/forums/showth...readid=1148873 Steve 926

It will never be silent, nor will any skimmer really.... They are bubbling machines. Pumps and bubbles make noise. It will get slightly better over time but don't expect it to be silent.
