So Whats wrong with Algae?

I know there are tons of threads about how to get rid of Algea and that if you have it then your Aqarium has something wrong with it, but I like the growth that is in my tank. I have all sorts of different Algeas growing all of them very colorful and interesting to watch grow. I guess the only exception of course would be Cyno or Diatoms both of which look ugly. So I for one don't try to discorage it's growth I just sit back and enjoy. Guess I'm weird.

Not so "interesting" when your tank is packed with coral and it starts to overgrow it and hurt your coral..

I personally have been dealing with 3-4 types that are a real headache, all ones that I thought were "cool" to start.

And considering that, though it might seem cool now, many types need to be controlled when it starts so i would personally takes steps to remove it. It is pretty hard to do so when your tank is full of coral and you finally realize it is no longer interesting at all...

Yea If I were big into corals I might think differently. But, I don't think I will get that far into this hobbie. I bought some Tampa Bay Live rock 2 months ago and all the things that are growing is just amazing to me. Everyday I see something new that seems to have come from nowhere. I can only imagine what it will look like in a year from now.

yeah i used to like algae to.. but then it killed some of my corals. i guess if you aren't going to put corals in your tank its no big deal it might kill all the new things in your tank though.

i had a bad case of algae a couple months ago and had to clean out the entire tank and start over I suggest trying to limit it in case you change your mind

I also like the look of plants because it is natural. Why not try some macros, like halimeda or shaving brush in your tank to give that appearance without having to worry about the nusance of pest algae.
