They are simply adding to the thread to "Bump" it back to the top for further reading, or to generate a response if one has not been offered.

Sometimes you'll see only the above; same meaning as "bump."

Yeah, and sometimes an overly enthusiastic reefer will compose a short jingle/poem/song to go with the carrot.

"Once I first started reading about this hobby on the internet, I thought there were two major companies selling aquarium equipment: LFS and DIY. I thought a tank with NO lighting was a tank without lights. I didn't know if I could buy a HOT skimmer, since I couldn't afford a chiller"

I know what you mean, at first I thought a HOT skimmer was one purchased on the black market.

I was also wondering why everyone who had a tank was hooking it up to thier sump in the basement, and why they would do that???

I added a few more. Also, if there's something that is not listed that you think should be, please post it in this thread. Thanks a lot!

What a great help. Thanks to everyone involved in getting us newbies up to speed. I'm SO CLUELESS! I really want to get a setup going, but I don't even have a tank. I'm trying to read all of this and absorb it like a sponge (or some other invert). By the way, I've seen SD (for Southdown) in a quite a few places and didn't know what it was until I read that mile-long thread. Also, is CC for crushed coral in the list? I can't remember. Thanks again.

Minh

Added crushed coral to the CC listing (it'll share it with Counter current). Thanks Minh!

Hi Karlas,

All the acronyms and abbreviations on that list I already have on my list, but thank you very much for posting that. What is on there that I don't have are full word (or phrase) definitions, which I won't be adding as the list wasn't intended to include those. Thanks again!

Ouch! My Car!

Zooqi, he really whacked my ride---$1900.00+ worth and that was with a USED door. It goes in the shop today and hopefully I'll have it back early next week.
