ID? I think I already know...Live Rock hitchhiker
I found this on the front glass today after work. We just added 80lbs of rock from another tank last night. Am I right that this is the dreaded Aiptasia or glass anemone?
We have 2 or 3 rather large peppermint shrimps in the tank (or at least we did a week ago). I didnt see any of them while moving rock around last night....hopefully they are still lurking about.

Yup, a very pretty looking aptasia. You're so lucky. Wish I had me a cood invert like that. I'd get rid of that thing quick. If ya got one, odds are you've got another somewhere

Ok the one on the front glass is gone and I've found only two other specimens in one rock. If I take that rock out and wash it off.....obviously not in freshwater but 'something' can I stave off an outbreak or should I assume where we see 3 or 4 there are many more?
I'll look for the peppermints tonite and if I dont see them maybe the LFS will have some in the 50-off sale tomorrow. I feel like a real live marine reef aquarist now

The peppermint(s) seem to have eaten all that I had found from yesterday
time will tell. Thanks for the heads up on Joe's Juice and kalk...

Removing rock for treatment is a last resort. There's lots of other methods of dealing with aiptasia without that. As mentioned above, Kalk and Joe's Juice will almost always work.

Gotcha. I'm right between Abilene and Wichita Falls, so I usually go to Nature's Half-Acre in WF, but they have a serious apstasia and bristleworm infestation in a few of their tanks that is troubling.
