Is My Chiller Working Well?
I'm not so sure my chiller is really working up to par. I measured my tank water temp. and it was 81.6. The out flow from chiller is reading 81.0. about .6 degrees difference. Is that about right or should there be a greater difference?

I guess it depends on when you check the temp. The chiller doesn't run constantly, does it? I have a digital thermometer on my tank, and it varies a couple degrees (depending on how you have the chiller set) all the time. I have mine set so that if the temp becomes 2 degrees warmer than the set temp, it kicks on for a bit.

My JBJ reads +-.5 which I believe is a norm.

No, it doesn't run constantly, but sometimes it will take 45 min. to drop it on degree. But, I do have to keep in mind that I'm running two 400 watt MH over a 150 XH. I do use fans which help, but those bulbs get really hot!

also depends on the flow rate going past the coils. the longer the time, the more time it has to cool the water down.
