Is lacquered aluminium safe

Hi all,

I have a question regarding a converted Rena aqualife tank.
Its running ok and I havnt had any problems but I am wondering if the aluminium brace bars (which sometimes touch the water surface) are safe in salt water ?

Appreciate any advice or information.

Cheers

Salt corrodes untreated aluminum.

Bob, when you say untreated, what would it be treated with ? I know the aluminium is lacquered would that be considered treated - apologies if this is a dumb question.

Lacquered would be treated, it is a clear finish, most likely put on it to protect it from the salt, not a dumb question.
