Sac and South Sac LFS roundup
I made some rounds this afternoon and noticed the following:
O st - Nice signs up for MARS meets - New store on power inn opens August 5 - Quite a few blue tangs of all sizes in stock - Coralife salt still on sale for $29 a bucket - Some Tru-Vu wet/dry sumps on sale - Had the MH off due to the heat today - Tons of small percs - Quite a selection of triggers and puffers Capitol - MH off due to heat - tons of small percs - most stock has been in since 7/11 Exotic - discounts on all ORA corals - tons of small percs for sale - some nice multicolored spiny urchins - interesting blue lollipop sponge - They have a new large display tank in the back that was dry about 2 or 3 weeks ago Somehow I managed to get out of all three without spending any money. A first, I think.

Pete - thanks for the update. Anyone interested in making a club trip out to the new O St on August 5th? Good way to show our support.

Yeah, I'm down for that, for sure.
BTW, everything we got from you is doing awesome, except the green Nepthia, which went missing one day. If you get ready to frag it again, let me know as I'd love to get another piece of it. The montipora digita is looking great!

I'd be more than happy to give you another frag. My house is a TOTAL disaster (finishing the hardwood floor), so we'd have to meet somewhere else. We can either try to meet at a LFS or at my place in a couple of weeks (when my house is back in order).

No worries. I understand the house disaster issue. I'm still working on my remodel 7 months later. Let me know when things calm down and we can meet up. We come to davis all the time.

I will go and check it out for sure. I wonder if they are going to have a large shark tank there as well?

When you walk in the front you are greeted by a ton of dry good and some nanos to the left, a very large tropical fish tank to the right as well as a nice rimless clam tank and the sales "podium" to the center. The Shark tank in a 5000 gallon quarter circle right behind the cash registers and before you get to any of the fresh or saltwater fish. It is impossible to go into that store without noticing the HUGE skimmer on that tank. It stand 8-10 feet tall easily. There is also a nice dragon fish display tank and may favorite, is called the "reef slice". It's an 8 foot long (18"x18") tank at the back of the shop above the live rock at eye level. It reminds me of a storyboard. The owner is Johnathan. Nice guy, always looks really busy. He helped me deal with 3 defective Red Sea Max aquariums and sold me my current 92 gallon reef for the best price in town (yes, better than Exotic by $50). I'd say that most of the dry goods are fairly priced, but still more than online. The fish prices vary widely and the coral selection is limited, but not terribly over priced. The live rock selection is limited, but clearly separated by region. Maybe half the size of Exotic, but less industrial and more pet store. The employees seem knowledgeable and are great about saying, "I don't know" if they realize that you know more than them and they;re not going to be able to help you.
