White mark on side of Kole tang; disease or wound?

I just noticed my Kole tank (variant of really), has a white mark on the side of him. This is new as of today, and I've had him for about a year.

Do you think it is a disease, a scratch from the rocks, or a wound from another fish?

Thanks!

got any blennies/gobies? looks a lot like a sucker mark to me... my PBT occasionally hassles my starry blenny and gets bitten in return. It takes about a week to heal up. I would watch your water quality and it should heal on its own. Secondary bacterial infections are possible though so keep an eye on him.

btw really pretty tang!

HTH

No, no blennies/gobies. I have a pair of blue jaw triggerfish, 2 other tangs that have been with this tang for a long time, and always seem to get along, a pair of percula clownfish, and a school of square back anthias. (I have 270 gal system)

I will keep an eye on him, the only fish I ever see the tang bicker with is the anthias.

Thanks for the info.

It looks like the right shape for a triggerfish bite; check to see if the wound is the same size as the triggers' mouths.

Doesn't look like scraping or disease, I tend to agree with a bite mark. You may need to add some sort of a bio-coat, like a Kent RX-P. The only bad thing is it makes your skimmer go nuts.

It should heal in quick order. How does it look today?

Thanks guys. Yeah, it looks less white today, and definitely more like a bite and less like a disease. I will keep an eye and keep you posted.

Just an update... the tank is perfectly fine now. You can barley see the bite mark any longer, for it has healed nicely. Thanks all for the help.
