Lets See Your Permanent Reef

So I know there are a lot of die hard reefers out there (obviously...), so I want to see your dedication. I finally got the first part of my first tat done a couple weeks ago (below). One of the artists in the studio also happened to have a full sleeve reef scene, complete with sea turtles and coral. Not only that, but the man who founded the studio has since moved on to open his own show-quality koi farm. Apparently aquariums and ink go hand in hand.

Ive got more to add to this, but need some inspiration from others. Lets see some aquatic art- reefs, fish, dolphins, whatever. You love the hobby- wear that love on your sleeve! lol... Dont be shy!

(And bonus points to anyone who knows where the central diagram in mine came from! Sorry for the poor picture quality...)

Awesome!

I've been thinking of getting another tattoo. The one I have is of my new born son's hand print on my chest. I've been toying with the idea of getting a reef scene on my calf, so I'd love to see other's tattys to get some inspiration. I was thinking of starting with a couple of clownfish and maybe adding some coral and other inverts over time.

I'm a bit concerned about the bright reef colours fading over time though. Did your artist warn you about the colours fading?

BUMP! I know there are more out there...

I was a little concerned about the colors fading, but she said as long as it wasnt exposed to a lot of sun, and when it IS exposed that I use a decent sunscreen that it should hold really well. The other artist had had his for years, it it was still nice and bright.

That is really nice! Great colors and I love the picture!

Obviously not reef related but I just wanted to comment about the color holding. I've had this one for 9 years (gosh, am I getting that old!) and though it isn't as bright as the day I got it (also didn't have the stretch marks the day I got it, now 2 babies later), the color hasn't faded much. It was done with just different shades of purple. The ink they use now days is a lot better quality than what you see some of your old Hell's Angels with.

BTW, terrible picture but this is on my back and I was taking the picture myself so it was a stretch for my arms to get far enough away to get the whole thing in.
