You should be able to keep most soft corals. Zoanthids like Bebo said, and also mushrooms, leathers, and I'm sure quite a few others. Some of the less demanding LPS would probably be OK higher up in the tank. Candy Canes (Caulastrea) are usually a good starter SPS. Hammer corals and Frogspawn are supposed to also be pretty forgiving when it comes to low light, but I had trouble with my hammer corals under PCs.

I have a 90 with 260 watts of pc lighting. Right now I have a fox coral, green star polyps, some mushrooms, a long tenticle plate coral, candy canes, and some zoa frags. They all seem to be doing very well, no problems so far (knock on wood).

Thanks guys for your responses. So are you guys saying I can get a frog spawn? I love that coral and really want one. Also I would like a candy cane.

I have Euphyllia in a 15g under 130W pc's and it's doing very well. I also have sarcophyton, but that's a softie and should be no prob for you. Leathers are good starters (from what I've read and been told). They're also handy because they won't open up very nicely if your water quality isn't at its best; so they sort of act as warning mechanisms.

I think you could do frogspawn. Just keep it higher up in your tank. I'm not positive on the candycane, I think you could do it, but keep an eye on it. If it doesn't look happy in a few weeks I would give it back to the store or a local reef club that might nurse it back. Maybe feed it more often since it isn't getting as much light.

Work with your LFS and pay attention to the lighting that they have the corals under. Mine uses a lot of PC's over there tanks, but thats here. Well good luck and have fun!

colt corals are great for low light and med flow. i was surprised at the prices for instant gratification on these. also feather dusters are accustomed to living in no light at thermal vent on the sea bottom. you could have these with any light
