Astropecten Sand Sifter ??
I have had this sand sifter (Astropecten Sand Sifter) in my 29 gal tank and I am currently building a 210gal where my current livestock will eventually go once it is cycled. The 210 will become a display tank that houses a variety of SPS, LPS, & soft corals along with a mild livestock of community fish. I read in an earlier thread that the astropecten sand sifter would eat all the pods as well as render the sand bed non benefical. This is where the confusion comes in, I thought this sand sifter would actually help along with a cleaner crew, maybe this is just the wrong sand sifter and would be better suited in a FOWLR system or back to the LFS? Any advice would be helpful I dont want him to eat the pods that are being produced for MG and ect.
I Also caught my B&W clowns enjoying the corps of a turbo snail that had been attacked by hermits shortly after death from a flip over. I try to perform snail rescue if I see them but didnt catch this one. In the past the blue leg hermits have taken over the shell once the carcass is consumed. I was wondering if fish can become ill from eating the corps probably not but thought I would ask i am sure its a part of nature(eat or be eaten). I think that death in the tank should be removed as quickly as possible to avoid spikes in ammonia are there other reasons, can they make the other livestock sick?

No sand sifting star is beneficial for a tank. All of them are predators of infauna, though most aren't terribly fond of "pods." The best they can do is bury detritus in the sandbed and make it look cleaner.
No, the snail won't hurt the fish.
