I like the Poseidon PS4. It is a really quiet pump which is important to me, but it adds a lot of heat to the tank which might not be acceptable for you. Your SCWD is rated fro 1400gph, so I assume you are aiming at close to that?

1225 gph, $159

I was going to recommend the Poseidon/Velocity 4 series also. I used a PanWorld 100PS-X and although the flow was great, it was just way too loud. My Velocity T4 is so silent you can't hear it running.

I think I would go with a Iwaki MD55RLT. Kind of pricey, but quiet and low heat. I think they are rated at 1100gph.

Sequence snapper for sure. Very low wattage and quiet. Can be dialed back with a gate valve or ball valve safely = actually recommended by the manufacturer! The iwaki pumps are very loud btw...........

The Japanese versions are actually very quiet. I think you might be talking about the American version.

The Japanese are the quite ones...the American version has got a fan to help cool it and it makes a ton of noise. For my new tank setup, if I could have got a Iwaki with enough flow I would have. I ended up with sequence and they are extreamly quiet.

A snapper through a SCWD? You'll get like 300gph and still use 80w.

My smaller Iwakis were always silent. I'd go with a smaller pressure rated Iwaki/blueline/panworld, and a pair of eductors.

Iwaki doesn't stand behind their pumps! They were the quiet ones. We bought two in Jan- one burned out in June, and we sent it back. Iwaki decided it must have been standing in water. After we sent them pictures of our tank, showing there could be no standing water (we have hardwood and carpet surrounding it), they decided it must have gotten wet. They then asked what was the thing next to it, a calc. reactor? No- it's a chiller. Then he said "I thought you had a salt water tank", and he couldn't figure out how I would need a chiller in Fla. He then said he saw a drop of salt on the top of one pump, which must have meant something was leaking on it. They will make up a reason not to replace under warranty. The bottom line is that they will refurbish my defective one for $70.00! I would stay far away from them- I will not buy from them again; too many good companies that stand behind their products!!

I have a similar sized tank and have been considering a Laguna maxflo 2400. Lots of flow, low wattage, and I hear they are quiet.

Iwaki pumps get extremly hot. But they are solid IMO - I would prob go with a mag or velocity pump

They're fine, unless you have a problem- and any pump can fail. Then your $ is down the drain.

A high quality brand name pump with a good track record will minimize or eliminate problems.

I can only imagine how -issed you were. How high on the chain of command did you go? Sounds like they had the janitor handle your problem.
