eheim needlewheel?

I bought the euroreef needlewheel for the eheim 1260/1262 and also the volute for insump. However I'm only able to draw around 10 lpm of air. I've been reading that everyone's been getting around 15, is there some modification i have to do or do i have to let it break in? Or does ER modify the eheim pumps they put on their skimmers?

Because its insump, it might not be drawing optimal air because of the head pressure. Part of the reason for mounting the pump on the RC skimmers the way they do is to relieve some of that head pressure. It ads performance due to the pumps ability to draw more air. Head pressure will definetly lower air intake.

However, 10lpm sounds a little low. I really don't know to what extent ER modifys their pumps. Maybe a phone call to ER would shed more light.

HTH
