Can I put LR in the bucket that is mixing saltwater?

Quick question.

Can I put LR in a bucket of saltwater that is being mixed for the next water change? (I have extra LR and no sump.)

It has a pump, a heater, and some light that comes in from the window.

Would the LR stay alive, and would it stay cured?

Is it beneficial?
Or would I be creating more ammonia/nitrates/etc than I need?

Thank you!

-si.

if the saltwater has already been mixing for a day, it doesnt need light to survive but some things will dieoff and cause spikes, it will also add a small amount of nitrate

Welcome to RC!!

I think the rock would be OK, but I don't know about using that water for your next water change.

I have been cooking some LR for several weeks now; dang that coralline algae is hard to kill!! 4 weeks with no light and very little dieoff. Keep in mind that the rock will have a tendency to shed, making the batch of water a bit dirty.
