Question which pump for 3 phosban 150 reactors ?

I want to run 3 phosban 150 reactors on my new 175 bow tank that I am in the middle of working on...

I will be using a mag 12 for my return, which is already all plumbed in to dual returns...

Would a mag 5 be overkill for the 3 phosban reactors ?

I'd like to use 1 pump and tee off into the 3 reactors with ball valves to adjust for carbon, pura phoslock, and another media I havent decided on yet, probably nitrate removal media...

I am prone to mag drive pumps, I'm just unsure of which to use, mag 3, mag 5, mag 7 ??

Thanks in advance

so on that note...

It sounds as if a mag 7 would be alright after the head loss for plumbing into 3 reactors ??

(I have a used mag 7 and a mag 3 laying around)

I would use the Mag 3. They need 80-90GPH according to the manual. How much head are you talking about? Aren't these going to be next to the stand so I can't see a head of more than a foot or two.

Couldn't you simplify things and just use a minijet 606 and run them in series instead of in parallel? Then you don't need all those ball valves and plumbing.

I would go with the minijets as well, those filters really are not designed for much flow, just a little to fluidize the media and thats it. Too much flow will turn many types of media to powder as it crashes into itself, especially phosban material. I use purigen in mine, and it takes barely any flow to fluidize it.

I use a minijet 400. If you send too much flow thru the reactor the Phosban granuales will rub against each other and turn to dust. Follow the directions

Maxijet 400 Maybe? Yeah those are a good choice especially for the hang on back junkies.

I Use a Maxijet 400 for mine, although i run 1 reactor, basically for it to work effectivly, The Media in the phosban (The Top Part) Must look like a pot with water begging to boil so to speak. Otherwise too much flow will turn it to dust creating A Water problem which leads too.......

I figured it'd be easier for 1 pump then 3 pumps..

I have two on my 90 now and I hate the look of tubing all over and the extra pumps..

I figured it'd be more simple with one pump... no ?

so the mag 3 you guys say huh ?

I run two reactors off a single MJ400. I just have to be careful not to overfill one reactor with dense media like nitrate sponge, or else the flow slows down too much for the phophate media.

I would run a MJ through three to compensate for the restriction in flow. I've had a mj 900 on just a single with no dust forming at all. Mj 400 for one reactor would do just as good of a job imo and use less wattage.
