Long Nosed Hawkfish disappeared-HELP!
I awoke this morning to find the little guy was missing. I know these fish can jump and if he jumped out, my dog could have eaten him. (this is one theory but I don't believe it.) I'll just assume the worst- that he crawled under a rock to die. If all my Hermit Crabs are doing their jobs, then they will show me which rock he's under. If this is the case, should I dare run the risk of disturbing my deep sand bed and other inhabitants in order to pull this guy out? OR- Should I let him decompose and do alot of water changes to keep my water quality up? How long does it take for a 60 gallon FOWLR environment to dispose of a dead fish?

How big is the longnose? And how long have you had it for? Do you have a covered lid? Did you check the floor? And longnose hawks usually chill on rocks. I had one and it starved to death and got stuck under some rocks. If you have a clean up crew dont worry about it.

It's about 6 1/2 inches long. He had a habit of hanging out on the bottom occasionally.
