Live Rock Question
I just bought 50 some lbs of rock from a fellow reefer who was tearing down due to a catastrophe. I have always bought cured live rock in the past. her sump filled with fresh water for over an hr and seemed everything died. none the less she had the rock in a sump again with saltwater, skimmer, and powerheads while she was trying to sell it for liek 2 or 3 weeks. all the life on the rock is dead. i brought it home and scrubbed it for a few hrs to make sure i got as much of the stuff off as i could.
since it was in saltwater with powerheads and a skimmer for a few weeks and would it be ok in my tank or should i recure it at my house. thanks

I would try to cure it some more at home and just test the water for the typical cycle process. Ammonia, nitrite, nitrate.

I agree with schoch79. It will make great base rock after all the dead organisms have decomposed.

It will become live again. In time.

It will eventually. You want it to have as little dead stuff as possible before you add it to an existing tank.

Yeah it will become live again in time but should be cured seperate of the display tank before adding it in. In fact after re-reading your first post I would say that it is live already(has the beneficial bacteria that makes it live) but after some time in your display it will develop more critters/color/stuff on it from your other rocks.
