question about coke bottle traps
Ok so I'm trying to trap a 4-line wrasse, who is not at all friends with another fish in my system.
Do I have to watch until he goes in? He's interested in it, but pretty stupid. At this point he'll go into the cone part, but hasn't figured out there's a hole yet. |

he'll eventually swim in there .. try some fo0d in there maybe? |

yeah there's food in there, he nips at it through the plastic, but I just can't get him to go through the hole.
I think I might try a glass jar with a larger opening, then slide a net over the end when he goes in. I just have somewhere to be this afternoon and really want him out today. He is being a terror. |

just give him time, my flame angel would try to get the food through the bottle too, but finally he figured out how to get in and that was the end of him! Put some additional small holes near the end where the opening is to allow the food scent to escape more easily, it will drive him crazy. An opened ended bottle with a net is just going to scare him. Sure he'll go in, but as soon as that net touches the water he'll be out of there and hiding.

4 and 6 lined wrasses are uncanny smart. I've never been able to catch my 6 line with that type of trap - or any other trap for that matter. I've caught everyone else, but now even they're a little wiser.
Best way to do it is just drain it down and scoop it out. |

I wound up doing a water change, saving the old water into a big tupperware bin and transferred all the rock to the sump and bin.
Still couldn't find the wrasse. After I started putting the rock back I found him in the sump. He'll live there till I can figure out what to do with him. Shame really, he's really healthy and a fun fish apart from the aggression issues. |
