adding fish with algae

As Long as my cycle is over and I have added my cleanup crew but the algae and diatoms are starting to increase since the tank is new. As long as my water parameters are correct is it safe to add fish? I Was thinking of going with 2 clowns at first is this a good choice for a starter?

yep as long as the cycle is over and water is good you can add 1 or 2 fish. just keep an eye on the parameters after you add them though. and clowns are great starter fish.

will you be QT'ing?

Yeah I waited this long nothing a couple more weeks can hurt at this point. Do you recommend QT my clean up crew or should that be fine to go into the main tank

the clean up crew don't need to be in QT IMO some will say QT all that goes into the main tank but IMO cleanup crew and shrimp don't need to be because they can't get ich or such. not that they can't cary it but very unlikly

well IMO I am going to agree with your opinion cause I know that there are many people that are for and against this situation of the QT of clean up.

After acclimating, I rinse snails, crabs. etc.. several times with display water... never letting any of the LFS water enter my system. Inverts don't carry things like Crypt, but it still could be free swimming the water.

Sounds like you have a plan, just take it slow when adding fish as the bioload of the tank will have to adjust to the new fish you add.

Once your tank starts to mature you wont have to worry about that. For the next couple of new additions I would add one every 2 weeks or so. That also depends on how large the fish is, the larger it is the more waste the load of the tank wil have to carry.
