Cheato Lighting Question

Does anyone know the smallest type of lighting that would still be powerful enough for cheato to grow?

I would like to add cheato to my current HOB filter (its an Emperor 400 like this ) I have already removed the bio wheels and i run carbon in it on occasion but i figured i could also have cheato growing in it to help combat my bubble algae problem. But i need to find a light that is small enough to fit above the filter.

I am sure someone has done this before, what type of lighting did you use?

Thanks
Cory

Power compact lighting has worked for me. But The light I had I got when I purchased mt fuge setup from Catalina. One of those should work for you though, it comes with legs to hold the light above the filter. Otherwise I have seen othere's use LED's.

its a 55 gallon. But the filter area is only about 4 inches wide by 13 long by 10 inches tall, so i need a small light that won't take up too much space behind the tank.

Here is what I am talking about that you could use.

The first one uses 2 13 watt PC's This is the size of it 10in x 5in x 2 3/4in

The second uses the same wattage bulbs but is smaller at 8in x 5in x 2 3/4in

Blown 346,

I think that might work perfectly, how far away would the bulbs have to be from the water? i don't have more then a few inches of height, will that be too close for the cheato?

With the legs ( I believe those lights come with them) you will be 4 inches or so above the water. The good thing is those lights have a cover that covers the lights from water splash. Chaeto likes light, I think those will work great for your ssetup.
