QT tank water - quick question
I have had my biowheel for my QT tank in my sump for over 6 months...so I know its good to go.
My question is, can I just use all new water for the QT tank or should I use water from my display tank? Maybe 1/2 new 1/2 display tank water? Does it matter? Should I put some live rock in my QT tank? Thanks! |

what i always do is use the tank water. i also do regular water changes during any QT period and use the water from the tank to do water changes in the QT putting the newly made water in the display.

I like to use the new water in the display and use the old water for the QT. I figure I'll end up doing a good water change and still have a seasoned QT tank. However, if you have that biowheel working well it really makes no difference.

my thoughts are using the water from the display tank for the water changes on the QT has your fish already acclimated to the display tank when that time comes

I agree JetCat but it is not a real critical problem if done the other way.

yes nothing at all wrong with either way. there are many ways to skin a cat and whatever works best for You (the individual person) is the preferred way.
