Post 29 gallon build

today i purchased my new tank and will be upgrading from a 12 gallon nanocube. it was purchased at petco during their famous $1 a gallon sell. i was considering getting a 20 long(20 gallons is all that is allowed in my apartment complex...SHH!!) for a while but then was inspired by a friend to just to get the 29 to avoid temperature problems due to the 250w sunpod i bought. my close friend found the sunpod for on nano-reef $220 from a local hobbyist looking to get out of the hobby. i later saw him in line at a LFS buying a new 75 gallon.

i also bought 2 tunze nanostream 6025 from championlighting.com for flow within the tank. for filtration i plan on getting a aquaclear 70, and modding it into a small fuge, from dr. fosters for $41 unless you know of a different place that sells it cheaper.

before back was painted black

so far these have been my expenses:
29 gallon ALL-Glass Tank........$32.85
30" ALL-Glass stand................$99.65
30" 250W Sunpod.................$220.00
2 Tunze nanostream 6025.....$121.85

more info and pictures are yet to come please leave feedback and suggestion they would be greatly appreciated thanks

Good start. Keep us posted. FWIW I had a 250w mh over a 29, and you will still have temp problems.

last night a friend and i ventured out to purchase some true blue mushrooms that we plan to frag tomorrow. while i saw and aquaclear 70 for $39.99. this was the cheapest price i had so even though funds were low i purchased it and only spent 45 on the filter and 3 purple mushrooms with green spots along with the true blues i split with clint.

funds are quite low right now i have to pay for school, and books but, most of my equipment...waiting for the tunze to come in.

Damn, I just paid $41.29 for it just the other day at Petsmart. That was with the online pricematch.

The tank is looking good, btw. I have a 29 set up as well. I just put the AC70 modded fuge on today. Fortunately, one of the smaller LFS's had a small clip on 13W 7000K mini aquarium light. I was planning on going with a clip on lamp from Home Depot w/a 14W 5500K bulb.

so it been a really long time since i have updated this build. i blame myself for being lazy and being really wit school.

i have have finally modded my aquaclear 70 and have running as a filter/fuge. i replaced the impeller wit an impeller from the aquaclear 50 because the flow was too intense...

i also bought the surface skimmer attachment. its pretty crappy but whatever
the aquaclear is working well but i am going to be getting rid of this and just going wit the octopus hb-100f skimmer

next my friend bought some live rock for me while he was in philly he stopped into hidden reef and bought about 25 lbs of live rock. they are really nice looking rocks and are beginnign to color up fast.

i have bought a couple corals and afew fish since the tanks started(anthias pair female died a week ago, a tomini tang...go ahead and say something!!!! )

sorry about the pic my camera is horrible in the dark ill post better pictures tomorrow with more of whats my tank has gone through.

please leave suggestions and comments. thanks

yesterday i went to guitar center and picked up a power switch rack to conviently manage my wires underneath my tank. i had to attach pieces of wood 3x2 to extend the sides so it would be able to fit in the opening. i also had to put another piece in front of each 3x2 to push the rack back giving clearance for the door to shut.

yesterday i also went to alti(local coral farmer) and picked up a frag of digi($10) a frag of anthelia($5), a paly frag and some radioactive green zoas($10)...here are some pictures.

a mess setting u my tank got the best of me and i ignored this...

pieces of 3x2 painted and mounted

some new frags

oh yea and my TOMINI TANG...

leave me comments and suggestions(not pertaining to the tang, he's staying)
