Bleaching rock OK?

I am ready to get some live rock for my 90 FO. I was going to buy about 50lbs of fiji premium, and then place it on and around some large pieces of dead rock to seed it. my lfs has some a few big pieces of the dead stuff, but some of it has dead algae, etc, while some of it is white. Is it ok to use bleach to clean off the dirty rock? I am scared of introducing unwanted things into my tank.

Yes but use a very dilluted % of bleach per water. I let the rock sit in this solution for a week and then rinsed and let it sit in a fresh water bath with a good declorinater for a few more days. I then changed the water and repeated to make sure.

I think I used about a cup per 3-4gals of water. Longer the rock sits in the solution the cleaner it will get. Yeah it turns white. Just make sure you rinse well and use a declorinator.
