Kalk in ATO

I have a quick question. I dose kalk with my rodi makeup water. I have a 5g resivoir, and I add about 8 tsp of ms wages. I evap about 1g per day. I am using a Tom Aquatics Aqualifter Pump (approx 3gph). The kalk is being pumped into my 60g sump/fuge (which is just over half full at all times). My tank is a 150g. My question is wether I should be DRIPPING the kalk (ie adding a ball valve to the airline tubing), or if the way that I am dosing it now is ok. I have been doing it this way for a few months now, and things seem to be fine. I dont have a PH monitor or anything, and I only test ph on a weekly basis... I guess I figured that with close to 200g water volume, pumping the kalk/water wouldnt be a huge deal.... any ideas or suggestions?

Im interested in this as well. I have a JBJ auto topoff and would like to connect inline a kalk stirrer.
The JBJ ato, has a timeout of 14 minutes,...and i evap about 3 gallons a day. An aqualifter wasnt fast enough to fill the evap in 14 minutes so i had to get a slightly more powerful pump. But now im afraid thats going to spike my ph too fast......mmmmm

Jeffersonreef : tsp stands for teaspoons or tablespoons ?

Just check your pH when it is pumping. Find out what the swing is, and go from there.

TSP = teaspoon.... but now that I think about it, I am dosing TBSP, not TSP... I think. I used whichever measurement was reccommended for my kent kalkwasser originially... and from then on I just always used the one spoon that had the white crust on it... lol.

I would drip only. On hot days like today where there is lots of evaporation, you don't want to top off with that much kalk.

Thanks for the clarification Jeff,...or did you just confuse me more lol

question about ms wages : The regular powder kalk will (some of it) sit at the bottom of the RO container. Ms wages is a juice right? so it totally dissolves in the water ?

sorry for hijacking

No worries.

Ms Wages is a kalk powder also (at least the one that im and most people use)... so it also settles at the bottom.
