Question LFS + Fish + Copper = ?

When you guys buy fish from a LFS and that LFS keeps their fish in copper, how do you transfer the fish from the bags without getting any copper into the tank?

If you poor the bag with the fish into a net, the net has copper water all over it and it drips in the tank and its all over the fish. Is there some secret that I am missing?

DO NOT pour LFS water that is dosed with copper into your tank... While the load is lite, it can still present a problem.

You need to acclimate with your own tank water first and dilute the fish stores water greater the 50/50.

Then use a net to introduce your fish into the tank.

I personally acclimate with LFS and my tank water...then take the fish from that water into another bowl of my tank water only.

Then I take them from that water - with a net - and introduce them to my tank.

If you QT I'd still do the same process.

I for sure don't pour the water into the tank. I was just asking about the copper water that is on the fish or a net from dumping the bag through a net to catch the fish.

So you're worried about the little drips of water when going from the net to the tank?

If thats the case, don't sweat it. That small of an amount of copper will not affect anything.

Yea, unless you're adding 16 fish back to back, to a 20L, don't worry. Worst case scenario, run a Poly-Filter as insurance.
