Cleaning old dry tank?
I just made a sump out of a 20gallon high that I haven't had water in for around a year.
Should I just use water to rinse the tank out before I put it under my tank? Vinegar maybe? Thanks for the help! |

I used white vinegar and water to clean out a 75G tank. Let the water sit in it for a bit with the vinegar, then used a glass scraper and scrub brush, and it got nice and clean. Just rinse it out really well so you don't leave any vinegar residue. I've also heard others have good luck with bleach and water, but I haven't tried it.

white vinegar is the best way I know and it is very cheap.I get mine from the local dollar store. Just put 3-4 inches of water and pour in a quart and get a scubbing sponge and get busy !Make sure you rinse well with water after cleaning.

vinegar works great at getting all the old residue and deposits off. If it has been sitting outside I would also wash with diluted bleach & water to kill anything alive. Rinse well and let sit for a few days.
