Question Largest ATO reservoir with smallest footprint

What are my options? I go through about 2 gallons a day, so a 5g bucket really isn't helping me out that much. Anyone got some good ideas? I don't have much room in that closet (you know, skeletons, Tom Cruise, etc) so nothing massive...maybe 15 or 20g range?

We use a Brute trash can, it holds about 12 gallons from where the float valve is installed in the can (from RODI unit, prevent overflowing the can). The can is next to the display on a stand to raise it above the sump; on the side of the can at the bottom is a 1/2" MPT to quick-disconnect valved fitting, this goes through a couple feet of poly tubing to the float valve in the sump. No electricity, no pumps, just gravity.

Melev's ATO system has a smaller foot print and will potentially hold 10 to 20 gallons. He uses electronic sensors and a dosing pump to accomplish the same thing. Those wrapping paper containers have a small footprint, so maybe two of those would work.

Every set up is custom, so find something (or multiple somethings connect, like Marc's) that fits and go from there.

Cheers,
Marty

Oh I've already got the whole setup no problem...working great. I just want a larger reservoir with a tiny footprint. Wanted to know what others are using. What's the bottom diameter of the 12g brute?

Ours is a 20g, it is about 22 inches wide at the base, but the handles up top stick out a few inches.

Hmmm, my 32g brute is less than 22" diameter.

That number, 22", stuck in my head for some reason when you asked, but your response made me curious so I measured. The stand the can sits on is 22" square, with an inch spare on each side, so our (20g) can is about 18" diameter.

Only other containers that come to mind are other trash cans, which may or may not be RO-safe, or poly tanks, which get expensive for just RO storage. USPlastic has a huge inventory of tanks, but most are quite expensive: A 20 Gallon, 11.5" x 11.5" x 35" polyethylene tank is $61.55.

Cheers,
Marty
