Is it okay to restart ca reactor?

I turned off my ca reactor 4 weeks ago. The media and water in one chamber have been just sitting in there this time. I noticed a litle algae buildup on some of the media. Obviously, I would run it clean of the old water but would it be okay to reuse this same media again? Both chambers are practically full and I hate to throw it out. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

if you had the effluent flow stopped the algae you see is bacteria not algae and it's not gonna smell so good when you take it apart to clean it and add New media before turning it back on to the tank
