I have an ASM G2 with a gate valve mod, and while I have no experience with other skimmers, compared to others' experience I read about here, it seems to be doing a fine job - and very easy to adjust.
However, I got mine back when they were cheap on asmskimmer.com (who, interestingly enough, are now directing people to their octopus site selling the skimmer mentioned by Phillybean above) - and apparently others have had ASM skimmers that never worked at all...

As I mentioned, mine works. If I were buying a new skimmer today, I'd not buy another ASM, for the following reasons: 1. Too expensive - when I bought mine they were under $200 from asmskimmer.com - try finding them for that now. The only other complaint I have wouldn't stop me from buying another one, and that's that the top gets stuck if I don't scrub the little locking things with a stiff brush every time I empty/clean the thing. This has actually caused me to splatter skimmate all over my bathroom... Other than that I don't have any problem with it - SUPER easy to adjust, started pulling skimmate right away. Oh for **** sake...I just walked in to take a quick picture of how well it's working...and it's overflowing in the sump...never done that before...guess that's what I get for saying I have no problem with it and bragging about how easy it is to adjust... ![]()
