Quick Curing Rock Questions

1. Do I need to run a skimmer?
2. Do I do water changes?
3. I added a 1/4 cup of live sand is that enough to seed?
4. If not how much more sand/live rock do I really need for 25 pounds of dry rock?

Thanks haven't done this for a while so thought I would take a refresher course before I go... huh I don't remember that happening.

Are you hoping to take dry rock and make it live? This will be a long limited process in a vat. You really need to place the rock in a tank and let some real live rock seed it. Thats the best way to ensure biodiversity.

I would put it in a rubbermaid container or something, w/ a skimmer and powerhead and do a 1/4 WC every week, I guess it just depends on how long you plan on curing it.

So I do need a skimmer, I have live rock right now in there with it, and tons and tons of flow I remember reading something about more flow the better. It is in a rubber maid container I will do a water change then, If I do a water change do I need a skimmer? I just don't have a free skimmer to sit in the bucket I only have a HOB free and that would be a pain in the ***.

No protein skimmer

No water Change for whole cycle, may want to change 100% water after cycling

Add source of ammonia, to a few ppm, once for reef tank, repeat in a week for FO tank

Need gaseous exchange and strong circulation.

Any amount of live sand is enough bacteria seed.

Alright, what is a good source of Ammonia? some Shrimp or something.

Also I have 3200 gph for 25 gallons of water, is this enough flow or do I need more?
