cheato? how much is enough?
Hi
I have a 120 gallon tank Fish only tank and now I am having a nitrate problem. I plan to add some cheato to a refug but not sure how much is enough? to get it to really work. Would 1/4 pound be enough (live aquaria)? thanks |

you could put a couple lbs in if you so choose to do it, you could even pack the tank, it won't cause problems but if it's crowded and can't grow then it won't absorb nutrients, and once it grows if you don't prune it and pull some out it won't continue to grow and absorb nutrients, so less is more

Just start with whatever amount you want. Before you know it, it'll grow to fill whatever container is in, and you'll have to rip some of it out to sell or throw away. Starting with more just means you'll reach that point more quickly, but once things have settled into a cycle it won't matter how much you started with.
