Is an inline refugium ok?
I was wondering if anyone can give me any insight as to whether or not an inline refugium is a good idea. Will there be too much flow?
Bear with me while I try and explain what I "thought" should happen. I'm converting my wet dry to a sump with refugium by purchasing some additional acrylic to form another box (the new refugium area) which will be connected by bulk heads and PVC. Essentially this is what I thought should happen: 1. Water from the tank will drain into one area of the wetdry(2 gallon capacity) - there will also be a baffle in this area that I could use to divert excess water to the return area IF I wanted to slow the flow down in the fuge 2. After entering first area, the water would then flow into the refugium (10 gallons) through 2 bulk head fittings connected by PVC 3. Finally the water would flow back to the return area through another 2 bulkheads connected by PVC where it is pumped back to the display. I'm extremely limited when it comes to space under my stand as it's divided off into two seperate sections so I only have a few options when it comes to adding a refugium....and I'd rather not have a HOB fuge or buy a new stand sooo I basically have to design my own refugium. I love to hear everyones thoughts/ideas

I dont see a problem with that, it would be nice to hae a skimmer compartment in your sump though.

I should work. I have a sump/refugium that works great with my external protein skimmer taking water prior to the refugium.
