Sand change time?

So, when I first set up my tank I didnt know anything so I put about 20 lbs of coral rubble, and about 40 lbs of other random sand in my tank. From what I have learned this is bad to do. Sooooo..... Do I remove all the sand and add nice new fine reef sand? Would it be worth the money? What negative effects would this have, like say me loosing all the little living creatures in my sand.

if you alredy have living creatures in your sand then it will turn to live sand and i would continue what your doing, if your unhappy with how it looks compaired to reef sand then get some knowledgeable advice from some of the peeps in here and replace your sand and if your sand is from the backyard then may the reef gods be with you

If you get non-live aragonite sand, it is not very expensive. You could seed this with a couple cups of your current substrate. If you have enough LR, then you should be okay, but others may be better suited to answer this since I have never tried that.

You could let the substrate be until it starts causing trouble. That's what I did. Then I replaced it. It's a lot of work, since it involves taking the whole tank apart, and you might see some cycling effects, as well.
