What's your favorite type of Live Rock arrangement?

I had my LR loosely stacked in my 125. I rearanged my tank to have 2 tightly stacked Islands. One on the left and one on the right. And even my large hippo tang seems to like it better.

So I am deffinatly digging the "Island" style right now. It opened up 1 and a half feet of open water in the middle of my tank. And the fish go from Island to Island. It's like having 2 small reefs.

I also recently found out about 3 sided "peninsula" tanks and I really dig those too. What do you like?

I like two islands, but with one big bridge connecting the two.

I have always done the island look, had it on my old tank, did it again with the new one. It allows for less placement of corals, but having some open uncluttered sandbed makes the tank look bigger IMO. I also like less rock than most people, and try to have it not touching any of the sides of the tank. Not just asthetics but for healthy flow and detritus removal.

Low lying outcroppings of rocks. No huge caves or big archways.

I prefer a modified "L" with space between the rock walls and the glass like L of J mentioned. With the "L" there's enough room for corals, etc on the rocks, a nice open space for anemones or Fungia, and swimming room for the fish.

Here's what I came up with for mine. There are lots of aquascaping threads around though.

I like a less cluttered look as well. I'll try to get some pics of my 75 and 40 breeder. I'm trying to figure out how to rearange my 75 for more swimming room for the purple tang, but still have placement for corals. Right now it seems like too much. Keep up with the pictures.

I agree. It really does make my tank look bigger now that you mention it. Possibly because I have them packed all the way to the top like a coral ridge on each side. I didn't stack them that high before.

So far I'm the only one that likes pillars and ledges, and not caves and archs

I prefer pillars and ledges. Caves, while looking cool, are a waste of valuable space, IMO.

Since someone asked for pics. I just took some of my reaquascaped 125. Is this a coral ridge like design? Notice the rock on top. Even the blue tang can swim all the way around it underneath the ridge.

Left side highly stacked ridge. .

Full tank shot. Open space is about 1 and a half feet from bottom area. More than 2 feet from top area.

I like that did you have to drill it or are those very large show pieces?
