buy a few peppermint shrimp, go the natural route first. I had a huge aptasia outbreak and 3 shrimp took care of it in three weeks

I've read that its not supposed to affect your other anemones as long as you dont directly feed it to your good anemones. Just be careful when you use and you should be fine

I was going to post that I used to use it regularly until I got rid of all of them and it worked fine, but then I realized, maybe it didn't. My nice big healthy anemone is solid white and the size of a quarter now, it's been that way for about a year now. I never really thought about the Joes Juice, I always thought I shocked it when I changed the MH bulb and it bleached itself, but who knows...
I know I have not used Joes Juice for a long time because I have two peppermint shrimp that did a fantastic job of getting rid of all aptasias. |

Joe's Juice is fairly easy to use, and it will work. I agree with being careful when dosing.

Be very careful. My aiptasias always showed up around my zoas. When dosing one of my aiptasia, I pushed too hard and sent Joe's Juice EVERYWHERE! Go slow and make sure to fill syringe more than needed. It makes it easier to control.

I recently recieved a tank full of live rock that was infested with aptasia. The guy suggested using Mrs. Wages pickling lime mixed with water to suringe feed the aptasia. Water down the kalk enough to go through the suringe, but keep it white and very heavy on kalk. They will try to injest it, causing a severe pH swing and killing them. Be sure to turn the circulaton back on and blow off any corals that the mix may have gotten on. I have been having success. Peppermint shrimp can work as well, but every time I go to the store they are sold out.

my concern with gettine pepermint shrimp is that the aptasia are all the way up in the top corner of my tank, any every other shrimp i have had would not go that far up in the tank

Concentrated lemon juice worked for me -- it didn't effect anything in the tank, but I don't have any anemones.
In your situation, I'd go with the peppermint shrimp as was first suggested, then try the concentrated Kalk mix -- If it really gets out of control, consider Berghia.

Odd, all my shrimp love the top of the tank -- especially during feeding time. I think peppermint are worth a try regardless

Apastasia
We've got 4 peppermints running around our 125 along with a Coral Banded and they seem to disregard the apistatia we had hitchike in on some live rock. We found that White vinegar dissolved the ones we had in our tank even the one underneath the foot of a clam w/o injury....use a diabetic 1cc syringe, fill with vinegar, inject into or right on the little b@st@rds, go slowly and methodically - if your frags are small enough to remove from the tank, zap and then dip/rinse in clean SW using a turkey baster...Vinegar and lemon juice (citric acid) in large quantities could cause a ph swing if overused... good luck

your making too much of this, just use the joes juice and be careful. It works great and Ive never had a problem with it killing anything else in my tank. Thats just my opinion though!!
