Arrow Red Sea Prizm Pro Skimmer

anyone else use it? whats you opinion on it. i used to be on my 10 gal now on my 30 gal. is this ok or is there a beter one to get?

BTW i got it for free still in box...

RED SEA PRIZM PRO SKIMMER

The unique Prizm Pro reaction chamber consists of a convergent upward flow first stage, followed by a divergent downward flow second stage. The combined action of these 2 flows results in a great turbulence, extends the contact time between air bubbles and water, and creates a protein-loaded, stable foam that is pushed up to the throat of the skimmer. Suitable for marine & reef aquariums up to 300 gallons. Designed for sump and hang-on installations. Includes external water pump, removable 40 fl.oz waste cup with drain port, adjustable height surface skimmer, filtration media basket, user-friendly operation and set-up.

Constant adjustment for light green tea skim at best.
My coralife is way better for a budget skimmer.

i actually liked mine on the 29gal because i didn't have a sump. if you don't have a sump i think its good. mine put out real dark skimmate. it doesn't really surface skim. even with the attachment it will only skim if you have an auto top off that can match evaporation. if you have a sump then the overflow should take care of the surface skimming. but if you have a sump might as well get an in-sump skimmer.

mine come with my tank and i didnt have a choice, i did cringe when i saw it but ive had the tank running for 2 months now and im getting black stinky gunk consistantly, i have not had to adjust it at all, just set the water flow knob to about 10 oclock and just cracked the air valve, and it works great......

I wouldn't buy one, but since one was given to me its been in use for over 2yrs... its not great but it pulls light-dark green skim off. I use the surface attachment, when the water level evaporates down it pulls the top layer of for a while before cutting off, I top off at that point and repeat... not ideal, but it works...
there are some mods on the web as well that improve efficiency... I added a bigger air tube/drilled out the air injection hole, and added a needle valve to the air tube on the top for better control...

Tunze DOC or Deltec is best HO.
Coralife would be next choice, then Remora.
