Skimmer question...

i have a Berlin airlift 60...yeah i know fairly small and relatively inefficient...but it is working..on my 20 fairly well..

i am using a Tetra Whisper60 (i dont know how much air it puts out but it is a lot...

i have an extention tube hooked up to the skimmer and it only sits in the water about 3" the other 15" or so of skimmer is above my sump...

anyway it is working like that...

my question is...The Tetra Whisper aint so Whisper quite if you know what i mean and i am just wondering if it is Okay to shut your skimmer off for the night?

my tank is in my room..i would have to buy another timer but that is no biggy...i ran my tank for 6 months without a skimmer..but i am not sure if my creatures have become accustomed to the cleaner water and would freak...mind you most of the living things that i really care about seem to sleep as well...so they may not even notice..?

at night is when the skimmer helps to keep ph and O2 levels stable

I would leave it on all night. It can be shut off but I wouldnt recommend it. It will throw off the skimmers performance and you will probably have to readjust the skimmer every morning.
