Filling BC29 for the 1st Time ?

How high do you fill the BC29? Do you need to fill the rear chambers too or will they fill automatically as you fill the display area? I removed all of my bio balls to begin with and i've heard once you do that that you pretty much don't have to apy attention to the Min/Max level guide on the side of the tank...is this true?

Just fill it. Without the pump on, "full" is an inch or two below the lip. When you turn the pump on, it will pump out the back chambers and raise the front level.

So, have a little extra water on hand in case you don't have enough water in the tank and the pump starts to run dry.

should I fill the back chambers up as well or just the display and then let the pump draw water into the chambers?

when you say the lip do you mean the black molding/frame around the top of the tank?

Okay, just finished filling my BC29. I did add water to the third chamber a few times as it ran dry but now it's remaining pretty constant and the level is about 1 1/2 - 2" above the Max level on the side. I do have a question though...how full is the 2nd chamber supposed to be? My 2nd chamber is only about half full and a long way from where i need it to operate my skimmer (which I am thinking of not running for a couple of weeks as there's probably not much to skim), should I add more water to the 2nd chamber to bring it up to the level I need it at for my skimmer or would that cause a tank overflow? The water in my display is about a 1/4" below the back wall divider between display and rear chambers.

You don't need to worry about the max. line if you removed the bioballs. I keep my rear chambers almost full. I didn't pay much attention and one day the pump kept spitting microbubbles into my tank and then I added water so the back chambers were almost full and it stopped immediately. From looking at the tank I couldn't even really tell it was low so now I keep a close eye on the water level in the back chambers. I've been keeping the front and back lids up because it's hot where I live and it's causing the water to evaporate fast. Ever since I put in the tunze skimmer I've been having to top off everyday to keep the waterline where it needs to be.
