Sump return line set-up help & some other Sump qustions.
I finally got all my stuff setup for my sump but how do i make a flood proof return line? Right now i just have the retrun line hose (with ball valve)setting in the tank. There is not any live stock in the tank yet, i just wanted to get it up and running before i add live rock. Does anyone have any good examples of return line setups? I checked the overflow box and it does not flood, just the pump.
And since we are on the sump question, what type of filter media should i put in the trickle box? right now i have bioballs (which will be replaced with liverock when i get it and it fully cures) filter fiber (polyester) and a bag of carbon. And 1 last question, if i plan on putting my heaters in the sump, how do i keep the entire tank the same temp as the sump water? I would think that there would be a temp difference in the sump and main tank |

u have to drill a hole or 2 in the return line just under the water level. this will stop the syphen when the water level hits the holes.
not sure on the media. maybe lr rubble the temp will be the same cause the water is flowing throughout the entire system |

The only problem with the return line is that its not attached, is there an easy way to mount the tube so it doesn't move around in the tank?
I have a 75g and a 300gph over flow, is that enough to keep the tank at a constant temp from the sump? |
