Setting up 2nd tank...

I was thinking about setting up another tank to house the "overflow" coral from my main tank. The question I have is if I plumb it to the main sump would there be enough of a "cycle" to hurt the main tank. I would use some of the sand from the main tank and use cured live rock. Or would there be no cycle since it would be actually part of the old tank?

Thanks,
jim

I did it. I added a 90 to my 210. It was like doing a massive water change, almost. It actually diluted everything. Everything lived.

Depends on tank sizes. IMO I would not go over half the volume of existing tank.

Depends on how much new live rock and how well it's cured too.

It should be Ok if the 2nd tank is not too big.

I took The water and liverock from my 55g to start my 14g biocube and there was virtually no cycle and started stocking in 3 days.
